This blog keeps me off the streets where I would definitely get into trouble for offending some nice, incredibly happy person.

My thoughts on Governor Mark Sanford's wife's predicament of being another political wife scorned:
She won't be the last. Right now, there are other elected officials, while committed to protecting marriage from homosexual whim and folly, are eagerly parking certain body parts into someone who isn't their spouse.
I have no names but they know who they are.
But what should one do when confronted with such rank hypocrisy and betrayal? Of course beyond releasing statements filled with religious piety and the therapeutic language of heartbreak.
Bawl over the reality that sometimes people can't comprehend what it means to be faithful in a marriage. Change the locks. Burn that motherfucker's shit. (But not in front of the children.) Most importantly, create an aural backdrop for the marital upheaval.
True, the institution of marriage has taken another heterosexual hit but it shouldn't be in silence. Because when it's too quiet is when the bitterest thoughts will pop into the brain. Is she prettier than me? Do you love her? Is the sex better? Does she not care that you pick your nose while watching TV? Or that you conveniently forget to flush the toilet? What? What is it that makes your lover so damn appealing?
See, it's just better to listen instead of thinking. A soundtrack for a scorned spouse.

The Hangover Channel features cheesy movies that push all of my emotional buttons. Run Fatboy Run is on the list, as well. Also features me lazing on my sofa wearing a negligee. Damn the bewitching elixir that is alcohol!

Somewhere back in February, about three weeks into the Obama Administration, everybody on the left suddenly noticed that there was something different going on with the conservatives. The outrageous screeds and paranoid delusions sounded pretty much as they always had -- but there was a new fury behind them, a strident urgency that hadn't been there before, and a very audible shift of the gears in right-wing behavior and rhetoric. None of this came as a surprise to veteran right-wing watchers -- we'd been predicting a bad backlash since the 2006 election -- but three months into the new administration, it's increasingly hard to ignore the fact that this ominous new trend is taking on a momentum of its own.

"I'm profoundly sad and I'm furious and I think the American people need to understand that we have a fascist movement in this country. We don't have to invade Iraq to find terrorists. They're right here killing abortion doctors."
-Dr. Warren Hern, a Colorado physician quoted in the Colorado Independent reacting Dr. George Tiller's murder, who is probably the only other doctor in the country - if not the world - who performs these late-term abortions, is understandably incensed.

Unbelievably, Buchanan compared Sotomayor to Harriet Miers, President Bush's personal attorney who was, in fact, not at all qualified to be a Supreme Court justice. Ever notice it's the Republicans whose "affirmative action" picks aren't qualified (as in Miers and Clarence Thomas)?

Watching American Experience: The Kennedys on PBS and the doc features footage of Robert F. Kennedy's words when Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. His words are so moving and heartbreaking. Where would this country be if both of these men lived?
